Good overview

A book like this has been long waited for. There is much here that is new to me and the fact that Irish theatre has such long roots is interesting. This is a good overview on Irish theatre but it is heavy at times and difficult to read. That is why I give it four stars and not five.

About the Author
Kenneth J. Meier is the Charles H. Gregory Chair in Liberal Arts and Distinguished Professor of Political Science at Texas A&M University. He is also Professor of Public Management in the Cardiff School of Business, Cardiff University (Wales). He is a former editor of the AMERICAN JOURNAL OF POLITICAL SCIENCE (1994-1997), a former associate editor of THE JOURNAL OF POLITICS (1991-1994), and the JOURNAL OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION RESEARCH AND THEORY (2000-2009). He served as the president of the Southwest Political Science Association; the American Political Science Associations sections on State Politics and Policy, Public Policy, and Public Administration; the Public Management Research Association; and the Midwest Political Science Association. In 2006, he received the John Gaus Award for career contributions to public administration scholarship; and in 2010, the C. Dwight Waldo Award from the American Society for Public Administration. He currently lives with the love of his life, Diane Jones Meier, in Bryan, Texas, and spends his free time comparing the merits of California zinfandels with Australian Shirazes.

John Bohte is currently Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (PhD, Texas A&M University). Dr. Bohte enjoys teaching courses on public budgeting, statistics, and state politics.

Brief introduction to policymaking

Meier's book skims over policymaking in the bureaucracy and focuses mainly on the federal bureaucracy. This slim volume has good examples but one would hope for more depth considering the book's hefty price. In addition, the author's liberal slant can be a bit distracting. However, it does present some interesting ideas for public policy students to consider.

Awesome book. A must read for those who are interested in competing. Even if your not interested you might want to try it out after reading this book. I like the fact that it is a book for those of us who are over the age of 30, but in reality anyone at any age can get great inspiration and information from this book.

Easy Read, Proven Concepts, Tips, Advice, that any jiu jitsu practitioner or individual looking to begin can really benefit from. This book can be re-read several times, and I suggest adding this to your travel bag to maximise your level of awareness and preparation before a tournament.

Whether you're looking to refine your game, strengthen your thought process, or if you don't know how to start, what you're doing wrong, or why you're not getting the results you want, Gustavo efficiently explains through his years of experience systems that works, and what does not. I learned the importance and the meaning of investing in yourself, so I suggest investing in one hour of your time, for lessons that can last you a lifetime.

Full disclosure, Gustavo Dantas is my Jiu Jitsu coach, but let me tell you why he is my coach. I am 56 years old and started training Jiu Jitsu in 2003 at age 44. I began wrestling at age 12 and wrestled at the jr. high, high school, college and post college levels. I have also coached at the kids, high school and jr college levels. My great fortune was being coached by the very best wrestling coaches this country has to offer; Don Klostreich, Ronald "Tune" Eastin, Mu Chang and Bobby Douglas, these coaches are the measuring stick I've applied when evaluating any coach and they were the measuring stick used when I chose Gustavo Dantas to be my Jiu Jitsu coach. My last wrestling competition was at age 46 the same year I competed in my first Jiu Jitsu competition. I continue to compete regularly and I continually need good coaching.
