A Wilder Ride for sure!

This book is just plain fun from page one to the last. I loved getting into Nick's head a little to understand his thought processes where Layla is concerned. And I love tough-as-nails Layla with her unpredictable nature!

One thing I thoroughly appreciate from Jasinda Wilder is that her *HOT* scenes are just that! They are SO not cookie cutter as are so many of them in this genre. Layla's seductive ways are imaginative and unpredictable and very, very hot. But she is also tricky and smart and manages to impress the rest of Nick's team. And wasn't it fun to get to know some of the other guys better as well?! I am SO looking forward to the next book about Thresh!

When reading any of the books in this original series and the spin-offs... you'll never be a bored reader! A smart, strong, beautiful woman, an equally strong, smart and gorgeous hero, plenty of hot guys an exciting plot and lots of steamy action. It's a winning combination!

FINALLY!!!

I was pleasantly surprised by a cover reveal that appeared in my Facebook feed the other day. When I read the description I almost died on the spot!

Though I love Kyrie and Roth, I wanted to know more about Harris and Layla. It was awesome to see how their relationship has progressed since Omega.

Harris loved Layla like something fierce and would do anything to protect her. When she was kidnapped in the previous book, he promised himself that it would never happen again. When a dangerous case for his firm Alpha one Security comes up, he is determined to make her stay put. Layla is not a stay at home kind of girl. She was determined to help, even if Harris told her no.

I freaking loved the continuation of their story and the hotness between them was bananas! Thresh is back too and we also get introduced to some other new characters as well. Looking forward to the next book!

Ask and you shall receive. After I finished reading Omega, I hoped for more for Harris and Layla. I had a hard time staying true to Roth after Harris, he was just...Wow! This is one of my favorite series, so happy it's continuing. Thresh is going to be fun. I can't wait to read what Jasinda writes for him.

About the Author
Inazo Nitobe (1862–1933) was born in Japan and began studying English when he was nine years old. He attended colleges in Japan, the United States, and in Germany—where he earned five doctorate degrees. Nitobe was an educator, a cultural ambassador, and one of the best-known Japanese writers of his time.

Putting a Name on Ideas Unnameable

Nitobe Sensei did an incredible job of putting into words concepts that are very difficult for all to understand, not only foreigners (non-Japanese.) He also did it as a Christian scholar in a non-Christian land during times of great change in Japanese society. It is a wonderful cross-cultural and cross-theological comparison between Christian and non-Christian belief systems. There's a saying about being able to explain things that are Zen. "If you can explain it, it isn't Zen," if I may paraphrase. Zen and Bushido are inextricably linked and Mr. Nitobe managed to put it into some sort of framework that we could easily understand. Not all things will make sense to the first time reader. When you read it again and again, the things that are true for you, you will clearly understand. As with many discussions of Zen and/or Bushido, it has to become a part of you to be understandable. This doesn't mean you have to pick up a sword or take up calligraphy, it means that you have to see the truth of it in yourself, no matter what you do or where you are. There are universal truths here. Even when you understand, you may not be able to put into words your understanding. That is the time when this book will become most indispensible.

A shallow treatment of a deep topic

I picked up a copy of this book a few months ago in part because I had just been employed by a Japanese company and I felt it was in my best interest to deepen my understanding of Bushido as it is still an important part of Japanese culture and more specifically corporate culture. Inazo Nitobe's treatment of Bushido is unfortunately shallow. He innumerates a number of "virtues" that are important in Bushido but does not dig very deeply into them. After reading about half of the book I feel that I do not have a deeper understanding of some of the peculiar quirks of Japanese culture.

If one is looking to deepen their understanding of Bushido I would suggest Sir George Sansom's three volume set "A History of Japan", as it is yet the standard in Japanese historical studies. Also, "Training the Samurai Mind" is a wonderful collection of translated primary documents written by samurai who lived primarily during the Edo period. Also, Miyamoto Musashi's "Book of Five Rings" is another useful book for those interested in samurai and Bushido.

If one is simply interested in depending their understanding of Japanese culture I suggest undertaking a study of Confucianism, Buddhism, Shinto, and of course Sansom's books. Nitobe's book is unfortunately a giant waste of time.

Fundamental Cornerstone on the Driving Force of Japan

Nitobe's book is an excellent read for anyone who wants a comprehensive look at the pulse of what drives the Japanese to produce and achieve in war and economics. His writing style is clean and practical rather than sophisticated or complicated. He emphasizes the virtues and concepts that make up the Bushido ethnic.
This book is a superb companion piece to Ruth Benedict's sociological analysis on Japanese culture (The Chrysanthemum and the Sword, printed near or after the Second World War). I strongly encourage anyone interested in the formative aspects of Japanese thought to read this book.

Nels Bailkey is a retired professor from Tulane University.

Richard Lim, Professor of History at Smith College, teaches the history of the ancient Mediterranean and Near East. His research focuses on the cultural and religious history of late antiquity, and he is currently finishing a book project on the reception of public spectacles during the Later Roman Empire.

Great for Intro to Ancient Hist

I am only writing this as a response to the above review. I hope no one takes the gender remark seriously. The book is simply a collection of primary source readings from Ancient History (Greek and Roman readings comprising the bulk of this). How a book of primary sources can remain gender neutral is beyond me. The book is intended to serve as an introduction to the vast (and not so vast if you're actually doing research in ancient history) amounts of sources. Hence why it only has excerpts from the various readings. The idea is that if a person enjoys reading an excerpt from say Plutarch's Lives, then they will go out and buy it, rather than buying all the possible readings in ancient history individually. One subtle note about the book is that Bailkey's comments preceding each reading often relate them to readings from different eras. This can be very useful in an introductory history class.

I very much like the way that different civilizations are represented as they developed simultaneously. This is a much more engaging approach to the study of history than the bland, textureless stuff being offered by many standard text books. Oh, and I'm a woman.

Really, it almost isn't necessary to say more than that. Bailkey provides insightful commentary and summaries for hundreds of primary-source documents - a delightful compendium of ancient knowledge and a joy to read.

An Excellent Resource for Hotel Owners, Managers and Hospitality Students

Revenue Management in hotels has evolved from the airlines yield management systems introduced in the 1980s as a means of more effectively linking pricing to specific supply and demand using automation.

Understanding the key concepts in revenue management's and applying its most useful strategies and tactics have become critical for most hospitality operations, regardless of hotel size, brand or location.

Dr. Gabor Forgacs has worked in the industry on two continents over a 20 year period. He has been on the faculty of the Ted Rogers School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Ryerson University in Toronto since 1997. Dr. Forgacs has used this combination of experience and research in a new resource that delves into revenue maximization strategies and their operational application.

The book is an easy read of only 100 pages, but it is full of useful information.

The 5 chapters are:
1. What is revenue management?
2. Measurement - internal and external measures
3. Tactical revenue management including forecasting demand and availability
4. Strategies in marketing, pricing, packaging and distribution channel
5. Revenue management's role and place, including automation and systems

Each chapter includes an outline and competencies to be gained by understanding the material in that chapter. While this book is used in academic and university settings, Dr. Forgacs has made the material very user friendly to both hospitality students and end users in the industry.

Readers will study the distinctions between strategic and tactical revenue management and why that distinction is important. He identifies tools that are available to revenue managers and when to use them.

He explains how to interpret the wide variety of information needed to effectively maximize revenue, as well as essential issues to scrutinize before implementing revenue management tactics. He explains how revenue management is often misunderstood and applied inappropriately, as well as potential consequences and costs that may be incurred if revenue management is used improperly. On balance, he also outlines the many benefits that can be achieved when properly done.
